Poole on UIL Board...
Superintendent Dr. Greg Poole, was recently elected to serve as Chair of the State UIL Athletic Council. The Athletic Council oversees the administration of UIL sports competition in Texas public schools and includes responsibilities such as regulations and compliance, district configurations, school classifications, season calendars, and much more. "I'm excited about being in a position to help affect real positive change for the high school athletes of this state," said Dr. Poole. "It's an honor to be elected to the position, and Barbers Hill ISD will certainly be well represented." In 2014, Dr. Poole will assume leadership as Chair of the entire UIL Legislative Council, replacing outgoing Chair, Supt. Alton Frailey of Katy ISD.

Eagles at State...
Congratulations to junior Kierstin Santana, who scored her personal best in the Girls 800m Run at the State Track Meet Friday with a time of 2:16. Congratulations also to sophomore Emily Gunderson, who matched her personal best in the Girls Pole Vault with a height of 11'. We're proud of you, Lady Eagles!

DUKE Talent Search...
Duke TIP's 7th Grade Talent Search is the largest program of its kind in the nation. Since its inception in 1980, over 2 million students have participated. The 7th Grade Talent Search identifies academically talented seventh graders based on standardized test scores achieved while attending elementary or middle school. Candidates are invited to take the ACT or the SAT college entrance exam as seventh graders, which allows them greater insight into their academic abilities. Participants also gain valuable benefits and have access to unique resources for gifted students. More Pictures
